TKAM Photo Analysis

Negro tenant family near Greensboro, Alabama
                                                                      1941 May

The first thing I saw in this picture was all the african americans outside of the small, wood house. There are about eight people, including the little kid playing with the dirt, and the baby that a woman is holding. I can see that they all weren't shoes, and have been stepping in all the dirt, and all the stuff on the ground. Plus there's a field in the back where they probably make their living off of. The house looks like it was handmade,  and might be shaky and unstable. After looking at this photograph several times though I noticed that all the people, except the child were all looking at something. Which makes me wonder what they were looking at, or if they even knew someone was taking a picture of them.

This picture reminds me of Maycomb, because the houses were small, and in the book they mentioned that some people had farms, and fields as well. These people from the picture looked like they lived in a rural open setting, just like how the book described. However there is a difference between Greensboro and Maycomb. In the front yard shown in this image, you can see no flowers. But in the story for the character, Miss Maudine, flowers was everything to her. Not only that but many others had gardens as well. Despite the difference though, I can say that this picture accurately presented the setting as Maycomb County in the novel.
