Would You Like Some Amontillado?

*50 years after the disappearance of Fortunato*

(Antonello-police officer)

Antonello: "Do you know why you're here today, Montresor?"

Montresor: "No, actually I don't..."

Antonello: "You're here because of what happened 50 years ago."

Montresor: "That was a long time ago.. my friend, I am old now, I surely don't recall anything past 10 years."

Antonello: "Don't act foolish with me, you know what happened". said the officer very annoyed.

Antonello: "After all, it did happen during carnival season, surely you can remember.." he rolled his eyes.

Montresor: "You know what they say, what happens at the carnival, stays at the carnival." Montresor replied with a smirk.

Antonello: "Why did you do it?" exclaimed the officer unannounced.

Montresor: "Do what exactly?" he questioned with a clearly false shock.

Antonello: "Why did you murder Fortunato?!" the officer finally shouted, who was quite angry.

Montresor: "I have my reasons..." Montresor dragged.

Antonello: "Where is his body?"

Montresor: "In the catacombs of coarse." Montresor replied, as if it was obvious.

Antonello: "You do know we have a witness, whatever you deny we'll ask them the truth."

Montresor: "But exactly, what have I denied Antonello?" Montresor said with a rather sarcastic tone.

Montresor: "I killed him, I put him in the catacombs, and I enjoyed his suffering. I deny nothing, for I have told you everything ." He laughed.

Antonello: "And Can I ask you why, you're telling me this?" Antonello asked, very confused.

Montresor: "I have my reasons.." Montresor dragged again.

Antonello: "You do know you confessed everything to me right? In fact I can take you in right now, and you can serve life in Prison."

Montresor: "Yes indeed, I have confessed everything to you, and as for my life I have basically been living 50 years without being caught. Life in Prison, will only be a few years.." He retorted, as if Montresor wasn't even worried about it.

Antonello: "Then you should then be taken in for the horrific crime, you have commited." Antonello exclaimed.

Antonello: "Any last words?"

Montresor: "No words, I just want a drink." He said in a calm tone.

Antonello: "Fine. Go ahead, you're going to rot anyway, might as well have the last drink you'll ever have before you're life ends."

Montresor: "Very well then."

*Montresor takes out a wine bottle*

Antonello: "Is that?... Could it be?!" Antonello gasped in astonishment."

Montresor: "Yes indeed it is."

............

Montresor: "Would you like some Amontillado?"

  1. Interesting story. I liked how Montresor is still clever and sly, even in his old age. I also liked how you incorporated the Amontillado into it! :)

  2. When is this placed? What year specifically? I think that If you added that It would give a much higher understanding of the storyline and what the police where capable of.

  5. The names that you created for your characters were amazing, especially the name Antonello. I liked how you sticked with the Italian theme by including Italian names and the setting. I would say that your story is the most suspenseful because you included an amazing ending with the world famous drink Amontillado. The story was well written because of the plot twist. Your story was very creative because you included the true feeling of a police officer towards Montresor. Great Narrative!
