Poetry has a great importance in my life. I’m not exactly an open person to be exact. I tend to keep a lot of my real emotions inside and not reveal them to anyone. With poetry I can express my emotions and my thoughts toward life and objects. In school we were assigned to write poetry and I admit that I didn’t exactly want to write any poems at all. But eventually, I found out that with poetry I can express myself and write things that I actually want to write about. Writing poems now have gotten easier foe me and I truly enjoy writing them now. I don’t write poems just at school, I write them at home too. Poetry is really important to me and I really love to read and share my work with others.
In my opinion I do think poetry does belong to everyone. Some people may not have the creativity to write great long poems but they have somewhat a mechanism that they can write a few stanzas or so. Many people have feelings, memories and such that they don’t usually show but I’m pretty sure when they write a poem they can express that, like me. You don’t have to write a limerick, haiku, have a rhyme scheme, and such. You could just write a free-verse which is what I write most of the time.
The life and experiences of a poet affect the poem he/she creates in many ways. Some poets may have many deep, depressing memories which creates a poem filled with much emotion and heart put into it. Others may have a great, happy life filled with laughter which can create poems with silly rhymes, characters, and imagination put into it. But many other poets may have been, or known someone who has been through a lot in which they create poems with many quotes, and realistic life lessons, some even may have more than that. In my opinion those are my favorite kind of poems. I love reading about real life and the things others experience that may help me with my own life in the future.
