I think both of the main characters feelings changed as I've read. At first, Augustus just liked Hazel. They would hang out, call each other, basically they did almost everything with each other. But now it's different, he loves her. Before Hazel, Augustus had a girlfriend. She was sick, and had somewhat "bipolar issues"Through time, Augustus was kind of getting tired of it. However, he didn't dump her and when she died it was still hard for Augustus. Him and Hazel in my opinion are the perfect couple. When he finally said the words, "I love you" he really meant it.
But to me Hazel was the one who's feelings changed as I read. Sure in the beginning she found him attractive, but that didn't mean she loved him....yet. Her and Augustus would flirt, and it would cause butterflies in her stomach, but she would never admit it. When Augustus told her, he loved her she didn't want to hear it. Hazel didn't want to cause harm for him, when she would pass. So when he told her he loved her, she didn't say it back. In fact, she didn't actually picture her and Augustus as a couple. But then she finally realized that she does indeed love him, and told him. When she finally told him, it made me so happy, and excited.
Augustus and Hazel's feelings both changed throughout the story. They've learned to love, enjoy life, and experience things. At first, they only thought of each other as friends, but now they think about themselves as something more. It's actually really great that they finally admitted their feelings to one another instead of keeping it inside. Those were the moments where I most became excited. In fact, I can't wait to read more!

A lot of people are reading this book or already have read it. It sounds interesting. Is the book good overall so far? Nice job on explaining why you thought the characters feelings have changed pr not. Great blog post!
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how much I want to read this book and for how LONG I've wanted to read it. It shows up on my Tumblr all the time, so over time, I knew what it was about and sadly, I knew the ending. And although I knew all that, I feel like that was just sort of the 'outside' of the book. With that, I didn't know what the 'inside' of the book was like. When I say that, I guess I mean I didn't know too much about the plot or anything, and your blog really helped me get an even better idea! Along with getting a better idea, it also made me want to read it even more. It seems like an even better book now that I've read your blog. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love how several people are reading the Fault In Our Stars since it is truly an amazing book. I must say Leanna, I also enjoy the way that Augustus and Hazel's love for one another flourishes. Those two Fault In Our Star quotes are my favorite, great blog!
