The Maze Runner: Week of 11/11/13

Prompt: Would you be friends with the main character?
Pages Read: 300-374 *Finished*

I would most certain be friends with the main character, which is Thomas. From what I can infer, Thomas at first was shy and scared. Nobody really was there for him, or answered his questions in the beginning besides Chuck. Thomas was confused, alone and needed someone. If I were in his situation I would understand, which is why I would be friends with the main character. He's been through a lot, and I would gladly help him out. Sure maybe the Glade isn't really a friendly place at first but I'm pretty sure everyone there wants someone to have their back, especially with all the bad out there. Plus at least Thomas isn't like Gally.

But later in the story it seems that Thomas knows more about things than the others. He becomes a runner, and not to mention very intelligent. Thomas is the kind of person who will risk his life to save his friends. Just like when he saved Alby, he could've died. He is also the kind of person who is helpful and will have your back. Basically, if you ever need him he'll be there. Not only that, but I think Thomas, and I have a lot in common. Just like me I never really had friends in the beginning but later on I did. I've been through a lot, and never really had someone to fully understand me like Thomas. As I was younger I was always shy to talk or do anything but I guess I grew out of my shell. Which are the reasons why I would be friends with the main character.

I think in my opinion a lot of people would be friends with the main character in their book. But honestly it depends. In many stories the author makes the main character relatable or similar to one, or one's situations. Which makes the reader interested in the book or story because they understand or relate. However, this doesn't mean everyone. Many people read books for different reasons, this is just what I do and many others. I can understand and somewhat relate to the main character, we also have many similarities. But we also have our differences. Which is why again I would be friends with the main character.

  2. I have always wanted to read this book! For some reason I never had the chance. I love how you tell some parts of the book but not fully spoil it. I might make this book the next one to read in my list.
