Going Vintage : Week of 4/28/14- 5/1/14

Prompt: Summarize what you read so far
Pages Read: 0-30

Before I start talking about this book, I would like to talk a little about my previous book "Darker Still".  Last week I had finally finished it, and it wasn't exactly that bad. The ending was different than I expected but in a good way. I must say, it was the most suspensful book I've read. I don't usually read suspensful books, but I had to try this one. I've had this book since sixth grade, and I never even bothered to read it then. But I guess I didn't bother reading it anymore because it was hard for me to understand. "Darker Still" is a great book, with surprising twists and would surely catch your attention. I highly reccomend trying this book out if you like suspense.

Now on to the book I'm currently reading. Just yesterday, (29th of April) I started this new book, called "Going Vintage". This book is about how Mallory the main character, finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her. However, it's not the cheating you would suspect. Her boyfriend, Jeremy cheats on her with an online girlfriend from Friendspace. Friendspace is like an online game, where you make avatars as yourself, play games, go to chatrooms, and such. Sort of like Club Penguin but different. :D
Jeremy sends his online girfriend emails where they talk about their days, how much they love and think about eachother. It's kind of weird if you ask me.

Finally, Mallory finds out about this, and fumes. When she found this out, she was at his house working on his paper that was due. She was on his laptop going through his friendspace, while Jeremy was making something to eat. Once he came back she dumped milk all over his hair and face and ran out. Jeremy of coarse wanted to know what was going on so he called her. However, she ignored her phone all day. When she went home, she went upstairs where her grandmothers old stuff was. There, Mallory was looking at things and found a list of things to do her grandmother made. Mallory of coarse likes listing a lot of stuff just like her grandmother, so it was very interesting to her. The list had goals of what her Grandmother wanted to do. They were:

-Run for pep-squad secretary
-Host a fancy dinner party
-Find a steady
-Do something Dangerous

This caught Mallory's attention and she was determined to accomplish her Grandmother's goals. She decided to give up on technology, and that's what convinced her to going vintage.

  1. I liked how you didn't leave your readers in a cliffhanger by explaining the ending of your previous book. I always enjoy when someone cares about their readers by leaving them a short spoiler. I feel like this book is very dramatic mostly because of your description of the main character. When I read your blog about the book it reminded me of my previous book Crank which is very dramatic. Great Blog Post.

  3. I like your blog this week Leanna! What I like most was that you talked about the last book you've read. I think that's good for bloggers to do so you won't leave your readers hanging. The book your reading also seems humorous. I don't know why but it just does. Great blog loved it!

  4. This book sounds really unique. The boyfriend made her do his homework too? It seems like the title of the book really fits the story line (some other books don't). Good job with interpreting the exposition!
