Prompt: Do you like what you're reading so far? Why or why not?
Pages Read: 0-58
So far, I actually like what I'm reading. At first I really didn't read it, and would say things, such as "Ugh! I really don't want to read this book! It looks so boring, and old!" But as I started reading a few pages it actually wasn't that bad. I guess you should really listen to the saying Don't judge a book by it's cover. I'm not going to lie but when I first read the few pages I was really confused. Like why were kids put into age groups, and why did they need to be assigned a job/career at the age of twelve? Plus how were they considered adults at that age? Don't even get me started on the whole babies/adoption thing. But I guess when we discussed about the book I finally understood more.
More reasons why I like what I'm reading is because this book is really different from other books. It's definitely not like any other book I've read. It also seems that the characters in this book like Jonas, Lily, the father, mother, and Asher will or have great responsibility in their lives. They've always had a strict and responsible life in my opinion. Especially at a young age. Therefore, I don't think I can ever live in their society. I'm not exactly prepared, for that and I'm thirteen! But those are the few things that make it interesting.
This book is honestly not bad, if you actually give it a try like I did I'm pretty sure you will be interested. Sure, I may have really judged it when I first received it, but you most likely did too. Many kids/teens read practically newer books with action, mythology, romance, supernatural, comedy not exactly a books like The Giver but that what makes it so unique. I personally don't really like reading books, but I love reading on Wattpad so you can really tell that this book caught my attention. In fact, I can't wait to read more!
I was just like that! My older sister had recommended this book for me and when I saw the cover it didn't interest me at all. I gave it a try and enjoyed it very much. I don't think I would be able to live in their society either. It's seem organized at all, but it'd be kind of boring. Hopefully, you'll like the ending to the book!
